The Canadian Federation of University Women, Welland and District, was thrilled to deliver our member gift card donations to the Welland Heritage Council and Multicultural Centre this week.

The generosity of our members will be sure to spread some holiday cheer this season.

A food bank or a community lunch program may not be typical training grounds for aspiring paramedics, but Niagara College has launched a new initiative to do just that for its Paramedic students in an effort to add empathy and other ‘soft’ skills to their tool kits.

Welland City Council has reaffirmed its support for the financial incentive programs that have helped to attract almost 1 million sq. ft. of new industrial development to the City since 2015 with an estimated 250,000 sq. ft. of new industrial development projects planned for 2020. These programs have created 440 jobs, retained 159 jobs, and generated $143 million in construction value and an estimated $141 million in new MPAC assessment.

Since 2020 marks our 100thAnniversary, we thought it would be interesting to look back over our Club’s activities and accomplishments, starting with the Rotary Club of Welland’s first fifty years. The Club’s inception was on April 1, 1920, when our charter was issued by what was then known as the International Association of Rotary Clubs.

They’ve each built successful careers in their own respective fields – a corporate chef, a filmmaker, a professor, a CEO, an athletic trainer, an entrepreneur, and a hotelier. Together, they are now among a select group of Niagara College alumni to enter the provincial spotlight as prestigious award nominees.
