High school culinary students compete in breakfast cook off
Culinary students from highs schools across the region are set to compete at the 9thannual Niagara Nutrition Partners Breakfast Gala Niagara Student Cook-off competition at Amici’s Banquet and Conference Centre on Thursday, May 30th.
6 schools from the District School Board of Niagara, the Niagara Catholic District School have sent teams from their culinary programs. These talented young chefs will be racing against the clock to prepare a unique, delicious dish for over 250 guests and 8 community representative who will serve as judges for the event. This exciting, fast-paced morning starts at 7:30am and is completed by 9:30am.
Famed pastry chef Anna Olson is once again hosting the event which helps to bring awareness to the more than 17,000 children and youth across Niagara who receive a healthy breakfast, lunch and/or snack through Niagara Nutrition Partners’ Student Nutrition Program
“Our organization’s contribution is a vital component to the health, education and well-being of tomorrow’s future leaders,” says Anne Kirkpatrick, Niagara Nutrition Partner’s Program Manager.
“These programs are an essential service. Students who participate in student nutrition programs are improving their quality of life twofold. They are not only optimizing their academic and behavioural performance during the school day, but they are learning healthy eating habits that will benefit them for a lifetime”
Niagara Nutrition Partners is a Region-wide initiative providing coordinated nutrition programs in elementary and secondary schools.
