Join the Wave: Walk for Women's Place

Women’s Place will host their third annual beach-themed fundraising walk on November 4 at the Seaway Mall. Participants who “Join the WAVE” (Walk Against Violence Everyone) will support women and children who use the services of Serenity Place (Welland) and Nova House (Niagara Falls) when faced with the difficult issue of domestic violence.

WHAT: Join the WAVE is a five kilometer mall walk with a fun “beach party” theme. Participants also take part in exciting activities during the walk that are perfect for all ages and abilities. There is no registration fee, but walkers are asked to meet minimum fundraising goals ($60 – adults, $20 – youth ages 11-17, free-children 10 and under).

WHO : Giant FM’s Pat Porter will emcee this year’s event. Dylan Marz and Chico Sanchez (a.k.a. “Dealerz Choice Duo”) will provide live music. Walkers will get a chance to meet the Niagara River Lions’ mascot, Dunkin and some of the team’s players. A former Women’s Place client will also share her story, helping participants to understand the importance of their fundraising efforts.

WHEN: Registration is now open at: https://womensplacesn.akaraisin.com/WAVE2017. Walker sign-in will start at 8 am on November 4th, with the walk officially kicking off at 9 am.

WHERE: Seaway Mall, 800 Niagara St, Welland, Ontario (Ernie Allen Court)

WHY: Women’s Place hopes to raise at least $20,000 in support of their shelter and support services in Welland (Serenity Place) and Niagara Falls (Nova House).
