I paint because it is an integral part of me. It is a source of self expression that goes beyond mere words. It is a daily challenge that must be resolved. I love colour and its relationship to our lives, value which fluctuates to create shape, form and focus. There is nothing like details in a painting that can be a scintillating surprise to find and appreciate.
I work from photos I’ve taken and sketches. I find the most interesting aspect of the picture and generally can’t wait to begin to draw with paint on my canvas. I strive for a painterly effect when using acrylics. My work is changing and evolving as I continue to take classes and workshops where I’m exposed to new ideas and methods.
